Balancing full-time work and studies is no small feat — and Nabisha Javed, a 21-year-old Mass Communication student from LCWU, is doing just that with exceptional drive and clarity.
Currently working with the American software company Arrivy in Pakistan, Nabisha shares her inspiring journey of managing academics and work, developing as a copywriter, and carving a future in marketing and creative writing.
Let’s dive into her story of ambition, resilience, and creativity.
1. Can you tell us about your experience balancing your studies with work responsibilities?
Looking at the job market, I realized I needed to learn some real-world skills, but the importance of my studies couldn’t be ignored either.
So, I “jetpack” my weekends, catching up on missed classes, writing papers, or preparing presentations.
Since Mass Communication is relatively easier compared to other fields, I can manage it better.
I follow a time management technique called Eat the Frog. I divide my day into three 3-hour chunks:
first 3 hours for high-priority tasks (like research and writing), next 3 for moderate tasks (note-taking), and last 3 for low-effort work (formatting, organizing).
This keeps my energy focused where it matters most.
2. What motivated you to continue your education while working?
I once heard that even PhDs were struggling to find jobs in 2023, which made me realize a degree alone wasn’t enough.
I started working part-time from my first semester, and by my fifth, I had my first full-time job as a copywriter.
This journey boosted my confidence, gave me financial independence, and set a clear career direction.
3. How did you get into copywriting?
Honestly, I wasn’t always fond of writing. But I knew I wanted to be part of the world behind ads and billboards.
I learned you could get started in content writing without a portfolio — so that’s where I began.
Over time, I transitioned into copywriting and now write ads, taglines, and landing pages. I feel like I’m truly part of the marketing world.
4. How do you adapt your writing to fit company branding?
It’s a challenge, especially when brand values don’t align with yours.
My trick? Offer variations. I give managers 2–3 versions — some that lean toward my style — so they have options.
It keeps creativity alive while meeting expectations.
5. A project you’re proud of?
I’m really proud of my article “Ask an Expert” for ZOHO CRM.
Our company had tried for 10 months with no success. I took charge, finalized the piece, and it was published in two weeks.
A huge win for my confidence and growth!
6. How do you handle feedback?
I take feedback positively — if it makes sense.
I believe in the saying: “Your copy is good, but your boss’s edits can make it great.”
If it comes from someone experienced, I treat it as a learning opportunity.
7. Key skills for success?
- SEO writing
- Persuasive writing techniques
- Measuring KPIs via GA4
- Editing & simplifying ideas
- Patience and resilience
8. How do you manage stress?
Time management is key.
Procrastination adds stress, but sticking to a schedule helps balance both work and studies without burnout.
9. Your future goals?
I aim to become a Creative Manager for major e-commerce brands.
I’m passionate about fashion campaigns and dream of writing billboard copies, ad scripts, and complete marketing campaigns.
10. What has the corporate world taught you?
It taught me how to interact with professionals, build confidence, and manage deadlines.
I’ve learned to collaborate with older colleagues while holding my ground — a skill that’s vital for career growth.
